In Switzerland, insulin is readily available. In Ukraine, this hasn’t been the case since 24 February 2022.
So, this year, our annual charity donation will be provided to Insulin for Ukraine, a non-profit organisation that collects and purchases diabetic supplies to support families in southeastern Ukraine.
The volunteers at Insulin for Ukraine work to provide vital insulin and blood glucose meters to children and adults with type 1 diabetes. Founded on 24 March 2022 by Andrea Dinevski – who has type 1 diabetes, the organisation was borne from a deep understanding of the importance of insulin.
Insulin for Ukraine supports the DiaSvit Zaporizhzhia foundation in Ukraine, which was established by geography teacher Svitlana Rozsokhach. Having a daughter with type 1 diabetes, Svitlana took action when her insulin supply became critical at the start of the Russian Ukrainian war. What started as a social media group for parents sourcing insulin for their children quickly gained momentum. Volunteers were recruited, and connections were forged with international aid organisations, which culminated in the formation of the charitable, non-profit foundation, recognised by the Ukrainian authorities on 1 July 2023.
Today, the DiaSvit Zaporizhzhia foundation supports 148 children and 46 adults with diabetes in the Zaporizhzhia region – located just 40 kilometres behind the front line. And with a continuing high incidence rate, their important work needs ongoing donations.
Working in the medical devices industry means we see first-hand the life-changing impact of diabetes care – so we’re very pleased to be contributing to Insulin for Ukraine, supporting them in their mission together with the DiaSvit Zaporizhzhia foundation to bring life-saving supplies to those in need.
