Creativity meets philanthropy – A film that will improve the lives of children in India

At Congenius, we are committed to facilitating healthier lives, be that through our consultancy work in medical devices, or via the organisations we support.

The Zariya Foundation was created in 2010 in Switzerland with the purpose of raising $4 million to finance the making of a feature film based on Mother Teresa`s vision. Aside from the production costs, the film is a not-for-profit venture, with all proceeds to be donated to charitable institutions and foundations that support poor, sick, abandoned or disabled children in India, to provide them with a sustainable income to fund education and healthcare for years to come.

Shot in India and in the UK in English, this Swiss-Indian production will be a full feature film for theatrical and online distribution. “Kavita & Teresa” is a contemporary biopic of Mother Teresa, directed by Kamal Musale, and starring Banita Sandhu, Jacqueline Fritschi-Cornaz and Deepti Naval. It is a story of love and compassion, inspired by the life of Mother Teresa. It presents two intertwined stories; the first of Teresa – the woman behind the myth, and the second of Kavita, a wild young British woman of Indian origin who is inspired by Teresa to discover true love and compassion in current day Kolkata. The story is passionate and uncompromising in its exploration of how both women achieve their vocation despite serious personal doubts.

The goals of the Zariya Foundation work in harmony with the outlook we have here at Congenius. They want to inspire all ages and population groups to persevere with their personal goals even in times of hardship. They want to improve the circumstances of underprivileged children in India. And they want to advance Mother Teresa`s vision for every individual to live a compassionate, respectful, and tolerant life.

With half a million dollars left to raise, donations are still vitally needed. So this Autumn, we have decided to donate to support the production efforts, with filming set to resume in London and Kolkata in the coming months.
